Captured by RGMphoto, Karl and Nick celebrated their big day with friends, family and their beloved dogs in the gorgeous setting of Matfen Hall.
“We chose our venue based on our dogs, as we knew from the outset that we wanted them there. I would definitely recommend Matfen Hall to any couple – its service is second-to-none,” said Nick.
“When we first saw the wedding suite we instantly said, ‘we have to have a shot on the morning of the wedding with us and our bridesmaids in the bath.’ Cue all six of us, crammed in a bath having tequila slammers before the ceremony,” added Nick.
“The overall plan was to have a relaxed, informal wedding with a rustic, natural feel to it. We’re both animal lovers, so we had animal themed table names and Karl arranged for our two huskies to be brought as a surprise for after the ceremony.”
“Nick hates wearing suits and it just wouldn’t have been ‘us’ if we’d worn a full suit. The waistcoat and open shirt had just the right amount of casual style we were after. We wanted guests to feel that although they were at a wedding, it was a relaxing day to just celebrate and have fun,” said Karl.
Advice for future grooms-to-be?
“Don’t book anything too quickly, or panic book, as you may regret your choices. Go for a mid-week wedding – you get a lot more for your money and the guests that mean the most will make the effort to be there for you.”
“Make the most of the day. No matter how many people tell you ‘the day flies over’ you never believe it until you’ve done it. We stayed the night before at the venue and it made it feel like a longer celebration, as we spent it with close family and friends.”
